High School Arts

Visual Arts 10, Art Foundations 11, and Art Foundations 12 are designed as home learning courses to meet the British Columbia learning outcomes. They are designed as online courses, so no textbooks are reaquired. All readings are online, and submissions may be done electronically.

Visual Arts 10

1 Semester Course

 

Visual Arts 10 will allow students to work with and experience a range of media. Students will explore a wide range of topics and techniques while applying the Elements and Principles of Design. Students are also involved in the study an imitation or styles of famous artists.

 

Students are involved in perceiving and responding to images, including describing, analyzing, interpreting and evaluating.

Art Foundations 11

1 Semester Course

 

Art Foundations 11 continues to use a range of media, including photography.

Focus is on using the Elements and Principles of Design to create meaning in art.Students are encouraged to develop their own sources of inspiration for design and imagery as they explore a more personal approach to the creative process.

 

Students are involved in perceiving and responding to images, particularly images from other cultures, an their use of Elements and Principles.

Art Foundations 12

1 Semester Course

 

Art Foundations 12 is similar to Art Foundations 11, but at a slightly more advanced level. Students engage in the study of image development strategies, context (personal, historical, cultural and social), Elements and Principles of Design, and criticism of artistic works. Students work to develop a persoanl voice through their artwork, and increase in their levels of sophistication, complexity and independance.
